The Australian Community Workers Association Limited (ACWA) is delighted to share that it is changing its name to Community Work Australia Limited, trading as Community Work Australia.
The move comes after a member vote at the organisation’s annual general meeting in November in favour of the change.
This exciting development reflects our organisation’s commitment to advancing the profession of community work, and aligns its identity with our expanding scope, growing influence and the evolving needs of the sector.
As the peak body for the community work profession, we will continue to:
- offer resources, networks and training to advance and enrich the careers of our members
- ensure higher education and VET courses equip students with the requisite knowledge, ethics and practical experience to readily enter the workforce
- endorse courses that deliver fit-for-purpose training for continuing professional development
- conduct skills assessments for overseas practitioners seeking migration to Australia, as the legislated assessing authority for community work occupations
- advocate on behalf of our members and the sector at large for sound public policy
Ultimately, Community Work Australia will continue to serve the Australian public, offering confidence that practitioners across the broad range of community work occupations uphold superior standards of ethical and professional practice as they strive to achieve social and economic inclusion for all Australians.
Whilst our name is changing, the organisation continues to be led by the same board and staff, and trade under the same Australian Business Number (ABN).
We at Community Work Australia, formerly ACWA, are excited about the new name and the future of our organisation, and we’re thrilled to take our members and partners with us on this journey.
